Updated skincare routine

My skincare routine has changed a lot in the past two months, and by that, I mean I’ve started a proper one, and guess what? … Not a single face wipe in sight! I’m a changed woman.

If you read my Spot of Bother blogpost, you will see that since hitting 19, I suddenly began to suffer with a lot of spots, which I’ve never had to deal with before, and therefore never saw the need for a real skincare routine, so now, I’ve decided that taking care of my skin is paramount.

Now, I’m not saying that these products and my method will work for everyone, but it works for me, and I couldn’t be happier.

If I have worn a full face of make up (which is only ever at the weekend because, let’s be serious, I only get up with just enough time to eat my Weetabix and brush my teeth before rushing out the door for work!) I tend to take my make up off with the Garnier Micellar Gel Cleansing Wash just to try and get a bit deeper when removing my make up and to feel like I’ve got the majority of it off. Again, this is only really used when I’ve worn quite a lot of make up.

I use my Garnier Natural Rose Water Cleansing Milk on a large cotton pad (you can get a very large pack of these from Primark for something ridiculous like 90p!) and I rub this all over my face to take off as much make up as possible. To be honest, this is where I miss a make up wipe. I don’t know what it is about taking my eye make up off with a liquid, it just freaks me out. The thought of it going in my eyes just.. ew.

Anyway, I then take my L’Oreal Paris Fine Flowers Toner (which is currently on offer in Superdrug for Β£3.99!) on a cotton pad and take off the remainder of my make up. You would be appalled at the amount of make up left on your face when you think it’s clean! And to think I used to believe that a make up wipe cleaned my whole face. I dread to think how dirty my face actually was.

Now, a new product to me, that I have only been using for around a week, is the new L’Oreal (I promise I’m not being sponsored by L’Oreal or Garnier, but they can hit me up anytime, ngl) Hydra Genius moisturiser. I may have only been using this for a week, but it has changed the skincare game for me! it makes your skin ridiculously soft and healthy. My skin feels so much fresher every day and so much cleaner.

Of course, if I have any spots on my face, I take a cotton bud and apply a bit of my Mario Badescu drying lotion before I go to sleep and I just swear by this product. If I have a large spot, it’s reduced in size by the morning, and if I have a small spot, it’s practically disappeared when I wake up the next morning. It’s like magic!

Another new product in my skincare routine is the Nip + Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix. This is such a good exfoliater and I only use this around 2-3 times a week. Also, it smells amazing!

One final game changer for me is the amount of water I have been drinking. I’ve always liked water, but I’ve never drank enough. At work we have a water cooler, so I’ve found myself drinking 5-6 glasses during my working day, and then a few glasses whilst at home too. I’ve found myself picking water over Coke, which is pretty big for me considering I used to drink my bodyweight in it almost every day (I know, gross) and it’s true what they say, the more water you drink, the better your skin looks.

This may sound lengthy to some people, but I promise it’s not. I would never want a skincare routine that took a long time. I’m too lazy and it’s my worst nightmare, to be quite honest. I just like to crawl in bed at the end of the day, not spend forever cleaning my face when I could be sleeping.

This method has worked so well for me and I’m finally beginning to feel super confident in my own skin again.
